Toadlick Music Festival 2015 by John Legg

What an experience.

A few shots from the day i attended. There were terrible storms that forced most of the bands to cancel. Still had a great time!

Toadlick Music Festival this weekend! by John Legg

Excited to attend the Toadlick Music Festival this weekend. I'll only been shooting on Saturday, but i'm thrilled to capture that lineup. Craig Campbell, Sam Hunt, Randy Houser, Ronnie Milsap, and Alabama are the big hits playing. Keep an eye out for photos of the artists, as well as the crowd!

Tortuga Music Festival - Ft. Lauderdale, FL - 4/11-12 by John Legg

The Tortuga Music Festival has been an event for the past three years that is located on the Ft. Lauderdale Beach Park; The largest out of the three years. With estimated 50,000 fans in attendance over the weekend, it was a sight to see. Not only the view of the sea to the one side of the event, but the sea of fans that followed it. The festival lasted two days, and brought a variety of acts. Mostly country artists in attendance, but there were a few other genres shown throughout the weekend.

The lineup for the weekend included headliners Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown Band. There were other acts which included Jake Owen, The Band Perry, Little Big Town, Sublime with Rome, The Doobie Brothers, Trace Adkins, Josh Turner, David Nail, The Mavericks, Colt Ford, Chase Rice, Sam Hunt, Frankie Ballard, Will Hodge, Chase Bryant, The Dirty Guv’nahs, The Cadillac Three, Old Dominion, Maddie and Tae, Brooke Eden, Dylan Scott, Drake White and the Big Fire, and Judah and the Lion.

Out of the newer up and coming artists that i covered, i was very impressed. Chase Bryant, who was on the Brantley Gilbert “Let It Ride” Tour last fall that i covered, continued to grow his following. His new ballad “change your name” brings back memories of original country roots.

"Little Bit of You," is Chase Bryant's newest single. He jams out to a full festival crowd on the Sunset Stage.

Judah and the Lion was another group i was very impressed with. About a week before the festival, they premiered their new single “kicking the leaves” on Letterman. The energy that each one of the band members brings is what made the performance so memorable.

Maddie and Tae, famous for their new single “Girl in a country song”, opened up Sunday morning. The two southern sweethearts, won the crowds heart with their charming attitudes and amazing voices.  Drake White and the Big Fire also surprised me with their real raw country sound, as well as the various cover songs they performed.

Sam Hunt, is the newest star around the country music scene. He’s written songs for Kenny Chesney (“Come Over”), Keith Urban (“Cop Car), as well as, Billy Currington (“We Are Tonight”). Coming off of a tour with Darius Rucker, and about to start a new tour with Lady Antebellum, Hunt knew how to perform a show for the fans of Tortuga. Immediately following other new up-and-coming artist, Chase Rice, Hunt displayed one of the best performances i’ve ever seen. The interaction with crowd was amazing, as well as the effects used in his music.

This festival was an amazing experience for me, as a photographer. I was able to roam around and photograph many different artists that i listen to every day. The scenery was beautiful, and weather was perfect. I recommend to attend in 2016, as they just announced Blake Shelton as one of the headliners. It should be another great year, if planned accordingly.

I'm very excited to announce the addition to a GoPro Hero camera to my collection. I will be using it on an attachment to my cameras while shooting concerts. I will post videos on a youtube channel for fans to see "a day in the life of John Legg" while on a concert shoot. Expect some videos from Tortuga Music Festival this weekend!

Cheers!

I'm very excited to announce my coverage of the Tortuga Music Festival this upcoming April 11-12 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. This is a very excited opportunity given to me by the great guys at The Blue Indian, a Macon-based concert and art based blog. The event will host two huge headliners that i've always wanted to see live, and now i get to photograph them! Kenny Chesney on Saturday, and Zac Brown Band on Sunday. What can get better than that? How about a weekend mix full of other country and reggae/rock artists. A group i will definitely try to catch is Sublime with Rome. Even though it's not the original Sublime, it will be cool to hear some of their classics. Keep an eye out for photos, as well as concert updates throughout the weekend.

Cheers.
